Merry Christmas 2015. Christmas this year finds me very near to where I was at this time last year. Last year, I was drug to FL for a family reunion for Her family, but as a bonus, we stayed in a hotel on the water and it was Absolutely Gorgeous. This year, we find ourselves down in FL again, but in the pan-handle this time with our two close friends, staying at his place.
This year feels the least like Christmas of any year yet. I suppose that has been a trend every year for the past 5 or so… but this year didn’t even feel like Christmas at all. We were so busy going up to it, and we spent it walking the beach in 80 degree weather… just altogether not very Christmasy.
This isn’t really going to take the place of my end of 2015 post, which I look forward to with much anticipation; but I do just want to look back to last Christmas, and reflect on how different my life is now. But then, that’s probably the entire point of my end of 2015 post… so I should probably hold off on that.
I am feeling incredibly loopy… and with good reason. I’m in some incredibly powerful pain meds right now. I don’t think I mentioned this on this blog yet, but back in early November, I came down with the worst illness I’ve ever had in my life, and I’ve had swine flu. It presents with a 4-5 day fever of 102, and also starts to look like strep throat, while also forming into a weird hybrid version of thrush and… herpes? It is a ton of open wound mouth sores that spread over your whole mouth and throat, and you can’t eat or drink or anything, and the pain is incredible. It’s a 10-12 day illness, and it isn’t something I would wish on my worst enemy. You feel like you are dying, and it freaks you out. What’s worse is that nobody, and I mean Nobody, knows what it is. They’ve run viral cultures, full blood work, all manner of other tests, and NOTHING has any indication of what it is. The best guess we’ve been given is that it’s a new super bug, but they’ve referred me to a specialist for advanced bloodwork and diagnosis.
At any rate, somehow, someway, this came back this week. I came down with it Tuesday night, although this time it just has the sores and horrible pain, without the fever or strep throat. – It’s amazingly painful, but thankfully we have some hydrocodone, oxycodone, and dilaudid that I’ve been taking as needed. I had a little oxy left in me when I took the dilaudid, and I was finally able to eat a full meal tonight with only minor pain. Notice: I still had pain while on oxy and dilaudid… THAT’S how freaking terrible the pain of having sores all over your mouth is with this damn disease. It’s a nightmare.
But now everyone is napping while we wait to start the second part of our night, and I’m all drugged up wishing people were awake. Oh well, that’s why there’s Tumblr.
Merry Christmas! Hope you have a fantastic reminder of 2015~
